InVideo AI Review (2026): Agent-Built Ads, Credit-Gated

By Johnathan Kwok · VibeDex Research

TL;DR

InVideo is the right call for small marketing teams and solo performance marketers who want to hand an agent a product link or a brief and get back a finished ad or short, with variants, rather than build it shot by shot. In our 10-platform Creative AI Platform benchmark it is built for the AI ads job and shares the lead with HeyGen. It is capable, not built, for cinematic film, social editing and talking-head video, and it is not built for static product visuals. The catch is the meter: every generation costs credits, a free seat gave us none, and the paid floor is Plus at $17/mo billed yearly. Buy it for ads at volume; do not buy it as a general editor.

VibeDex is an independent AI comparison engine that runs its own blind benchmarks. This review is built on what we could reach inside the logged-in InVideo workspace in August 2026, checked against the vendor help centre and pricing page, not on marketing copy.

Which jobs is InVideo built for?

We score each platform on five creative jobs, each defined by two or three deciding tasks, inside the logged-in product. Verdicts rank on the deciding tasks first, then on total depth. Here is where InVideo lands on each.

AI ads and UGC: built for it, co-leader with HeyGen

This is the job the current product is shaped around. The quick-start flows are ads and shorts (a 15-second YouTube ad, a script to a vertical short), and the Product Ads flow writes the hook and script from a link, then exposes duration, pace, channel, background music, language, subtitles, voice actors and a stock-or-generative media toggle. The Ad KV Variations workflow takes one finished ad and produces a batch of new versions in the sizes you need while keeping the product and brand consistent. What keeps InVideo level with HeyGen rather than ahead: we found no UGC performer catalogue (the Casting workflow casts characters for narrative shots), and the variant batch itself was never generated on our seat because generation needs credits. The ads verdict is provisional on that batch being seen.

Cinematic and brand film: capable

The Agent Two workflow catalogue is genuinely film-shaped: Casting, Production Design, Storyboarding, Performance Capture, Reframing, Transitions. Each card opens a real, invocable workflow in the composer, and the model roster includes Seedance 2.5, Veo 3.1, Kling 3.0, Runway Gen-4.5, Wan and LTX. Two things stop it being built for film. Camera direction arrives through hosted models steered by prompt, not a native camera control surface, and Higgsfield and OpenArt both have one. And because our free seat could not generate, the storyboard and shot-level control those cards describe were never observed, so they count as solid tools, not deep ones. Higgsfield wins this job in our set.

Social video and short-form: capable

The home rail offers a free Timeline Editor, which opens a first-party Semantic Editor (cut, mix, colour grade, multiplayer). The editor launches in its own window and we did not get its tracks under our hands, so it scores as a real editor whose multi-track controls we could not confirm. Captions exist as a setting in the ad flow rather than a styled caption tool. There is no publish, schedule or account-connect surface anywhere in the workspace. CapCut and VEED, which pair an operated multi-track timeline with styled auto-captions, lead this job.

AI avatars and talking-head: capable, and possibly under-credited

On a free seat we found no clone, consent or record flow, and the avatar capability we could see was model-level (Kling Avatar, P-Video Avatar, DreamActor M2.0 in the roster). The help centre documents a consent-based twin in Express and Pro grades and a human actor library, and every paid plan lists avatars and voice clones (4 on Plus, 16 on Max, 40 on Generative). We score what we can reach, so this row is capable, with the caveat that a paid seat may show more. The Localisation workflow adapts a finished ad for a new market (copy, currency, imagery, talent); it is not audio dubbing and we did not count it as such. HeyGen and Synthesia lead this job.

Product and ad visuals: not built for it

InVideo has an image generator and an image enhancer. The site's own tool index lists no background remover, no product staging or mockup tool and no brand kit, so a static product shot or catalogue image is a job for another product. Canva wins this job in our set, with CapCut, Fotor and Magnific also built for it.

What we saw inside the product

InVideoAgent Two workspace and workflow catalogue

Verified in-app
Logging in redirects to Agent Two. The Workflows tab lists Casting, Reference Research, Production Design, Storyboarding, Performance Capture, Reframing, Ad KV Variations, Localisation, PDP Video, Reference to Campaign, Transitions and Trends. Clicking Storyboarding then Proceed loaded the workflow into the composer with its own instructions, so these are working entry points, not marketing cards. The seat showed 0 of 5 credits and every Generate action was blocked, so no output from any workflow was observed.

InVideoAd KV Variations

Verified in-app
The card opens in the composer with the in-product description: turn one ad into a batch of new versions while keeping your product and brand consistent, and export in the sizes you need. The surface exists; the batch itself was not generated on our seat.

InVideoProduct Ads flow

Verified in-app
Duration, pace and channel come first, then Settings: background music, language, subtitles, voice actors, watermark, music preference, stock or generative media. The script is written by the agent from the product details. We found no UGC performer catalogue; the Casting workflow casts characters for narrative shots.

InVideoTimeline Editor (Semantic Editor)

Documented, not fully verified
The free Timeline Editor entry opens a Semantic Editor v1.0 modal (start from scratch: cut, mix, colour grade; multiplayer; agentic) and a project picker. The editor launched outside our automation window and its tracks were not operated.

The models behind the workflows

InVideo is a model hub as much as an editor. The in-product roster we saw includes Seedance 2.5, Veo 3.1, Kling 3.0, Sora 2, Runway Gen-4.5, Wan 3.0 and LTX for video, and Nano Banana Pro and Nano Banana 2 for images, with the pricing page quoting credit costs in Nano Banana generations. On our image leaderboard (VibeDex Score, our 0 to 5 blind-benchmark score, 50 prompts, 3 passes, 150 judgments per model) Nano Banana 2 sits at 4.02 and Nano Banana Pro at 3.96, both inside the top-tier tie chain behind GPT Image 2. In plain terms: the image quality you get from InVideo is set by which model you pick, not by the platform, and the choice moves quality more than the wrapper does.

What InVideo costs

There is no usable free tier for output. A free account opens the workspace and the workflow catalogue, but our seat carried 0 of 5 credits and every generation is metered, so nothing can be finished without a plan. Prices below were read from invideo.io/pricing on 27 August 2026 and are the annual rates the page displays.

PlanPriceCredits / monthAvatars and voice clonesWatermark
Free$00 of 5 on our seatnone reachedyes
Plus$17/mo, $200 billed yearly754no
Max$85/mo, $1,000 billed yearly39016no
Generative$170/mo, $2,000 billed yearly80040no

The page's own yardstick is images: 75 credits buys 300 Nano Banana Pro or 600 Nano Banana 2 generations on Plus. Video credit costs vary by model and are not listed on the pricing page, so we do not quote a videos-per-month figure. G2 and Reddit reviewers repeatedly report that premium video models burn credits fast and that unused credits do not roll over, which is the number to model before choosing a tier.

InVideo

Strengths

  • +Built for AI ads in our 10-platform benchmark, level with HeyGen: brief-to-script hook, voice actors, subtitles, and an Ad KV Variations batch workflow
  • +Agent Two workflow catalogue opens real, invocable flows (Casting, Storyboarding, Localisation, PDP Video), not marketing cards
  • +One of the widest model rosters in the set (Seedance 2.5, Veo 3.1, Kling 3.0, Sora 2, Runway Gen-4.5, Nano Banana Pro) behind one composer
  • +Paid plans export without a watermark from the $17/mo Plus tier

Limitations

  • No usable free output: our free seat had no credits and every generation is metered
  • Not built for static product visuals: no background remover, staging or brand kit in the tool index
  • No publish or scheduling surface; every deliverable is a download
  • Avatar and twin enrolment could not be reached on a free seat, so the documented AI Twins remain unverified by us
  • Reviewers cite fast credit burn on premium models, no rollover, and refund friction

Trust signal: the meter, not the product

InVideo rates 4.4 on G2 (172 reviews) and 4.4 on Google Play (about 133,000 ratings). The positive themes are consistent: one prompt produces a complete video with assets, and faceless channels can launch fast. The negative themes are equally consistent and are almost all about billing mechanics: credits consumed faster than expected on high-end models, credits that expire without rolling over, and difficulty getting refunds for failed renders. We record billing and cancellation risk as caution and support risk as caution. Practical advice: start on a monthly plan if one is offered at checkout, watch the credit counter for the first month, and treat the annual price as a commitment to a known burn rate, not a discount to grab.

Who InVideo is for, and who it isn't

Performance marketers and small e-commerce teams producing video ads at volume who want the script, voice, subtitles and size variants generated from a product link, and who will pay Max or above for the credits that volume needs.

Faceless-channel and short-form creators who work from a brief rather than a timeline and are happy to download and post by hand.

Teams that want one subscription across many video models and would rather route through a composer than hold five model accounts.

Not for: anyone whose daily work is timeline editing of footage they shot (CapCut or VEED, with an operated multi-track timeline and styled captions); directed cinematic work where camera control matters (Higgsfield or OpenArt); catalogue and static product imagery (Canva, Fotor or Magnific); or a buyer who needs to evaluate finished output before paying, because the free seat cannot generate one.

Verdict

InVideo has turned itself into an agent that makes ads, and on that job it is as good as anything in our set: HeyGen and InVideo finish level, HeyGen with the actor library and batch mode, InVideo with the brief-to-script hook and the model roster. The verdict stays provisional until we generate a variant batch on a paid seat, and we will update this page when we do.

Everywhere else it is a capable generalist rather than a specialist, and for static product visuals it is the wrong product. Buy it for ads, budget for credits, and keep a real editor beside it.

Appendix: May 2026 capability audit

Before the depth benchmark, we documented InVideo against 22 tracked capabilities from its public tool pages (checked 28 May 2026). It listed 22 of 22 as present. That audit measured whether a page for each capability exists; the verdicts above measure how deep the tool is inside the product, which is why the two instruments differ, especially on product visuals, where the May pages promised an Advertising Studio our August workspace did not expose.

FAQ

Is InVideo AI free to use?

You can open the workspace and browse the workflows on a free account, but our free seat showed 0 of 5 credits, and every generation costs credits, so you cannot produce a finished video without paying. The entry plan is Plus at $17/mo billed yearly ($200) for 75 credits a month; Max is $85/mo ($1,000 yearly) for 390 credits; Generative is $170/mo ($2,000 yearly) for 800 credits. Paid plans export without a watermark. Prices checked 27 August 2026.

What is InVideo AI best for?

AI ads and UGC-style video. In our 10-platform Creative AI Platform benchmark InVideo is built for the ads job and shares the lead with HeyGen: the Product Ads flow writes the hook and script, exposes voice actors, subtitles and a stock-or-generative toggle, and the Ad KV Variations workflow turns one ad into a batch of resized versions. It is capable, not built, for cinematic film, social editing and talking-head video, and not built for static product visuals.

Does InVideo have AI avatars or a digital twin?

The help centre documents a consent-based twin (Express from a short clip, Pro from 30 minutes of footage) and paid plans list 4 to 40 avatars and voice clones. We could not reach an enrolment or avatar surface on a free seat, and the only avatar capability we saw was model-level (Kling Avatar, DreamActor). Treat avatars as documented, not something we operated.

How does InVideo compare with HeyGen and CapCut?

HeyGen and InVideo are level at the top of our ads job; HeyGen has the deeper actor library and Batch Mode, InVideo has the stronger brief-to-script hook and the model roster. For social editing CapCut has a real multi-track timeline, auto-captions and a deeper stock library; InVideo has an agent composer and a timeline editor we could not fully operate, so it sits at capable there.
