What we tested

The buyer use case is product hero shots for catalog and listings. The required workflow stack is four capabilities: background removal, image generation OR image-to-image, upscale, and retouch. We do not score the output quality of any model. We document whether each platform has a named workflow that covers the full stack, whether the free tier reaches it without a watermark, what commercial-use rights apply to free output, and what the trust signal looks like at the buyer level.

Specialized: 4 platforms with named workflows

A “specialized” verdict means the platform has both the capability stack and a packaged, named workflow that maps to the buyer's job — not just inferred from capability inventory.

Strongest trust verdict in this group (pass) and commercial AI license is included on all paid tiers, but the entry cost (£5.25/mo Essential ≈ $6.60) means it is not a free-tier option for casual buyers. Has the parts: 5 platforms without a packaged workflow

These platforms cover the required capability stack (BG remove + generation + upscale + retouch) but don't ship a single named workflow that maps directly to product-hero-shots.
