Which Creative AI Platform is built for your job?
10 platforms, 5 jobs, 310 capability checks made inside the logged-in product.
By Johnathan Kwok · VibeDex Research · Last updated 2026-08-20
The short answer: no platform wins every job
CapCut is built for four of the five jobs, the broadest result in the set. It still loses two of them: Synthesia and HeyGen own avatars and talking-head work, and Higgsfield owns cinematic camera control. Buy for the job you actually do.
VibeDex is an independent AI comparison engine that runs its own blind benchmarks. Every cell below was checked by opening the product and using the tool, never by reading a marketing page. Sibling apps count as one platform, because that is how buyers subscribe.
If you want to do X, use Y
One pick per job, chosen on the tasks that define that job rather than on total feature count. The second column is the only reason to choose someone else.
| If you want to | Use this | Because | Choose instead |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cinematic & brand filmdirected shots · narrative | Higgsfield | deepest on camera / motion and character consistency | InVideo if you need storyboard, keyframe control and edit / assemble |
| AI avatars & talking-headpresenters · twins · L&D | Synthesia | deepest on custom twin, voice / clone, translate / dub and export / lms | HeyGen if you need stock avatars |
| AI ads & UGChooks · UGC actors · variants | CapCut | deepest on hook / script and variants / scale | HeyGen if you need ai actor library |
| Social video & short-formediting · clips · video ads | CapCut | deepest on timeline edit and captions | nothing beats it on any task here |
| Product & ad visualsshots · listings · static ads | Canva | deepest on brand + text and multi-format + publish | CapCut if you need cutout / bg and staging / mockup |
The matrix: 10 platforms against 5 jobs
Each cell is the verdict for one platform on one job. Built for it means deep, purpose-built tooling. Capable means it does the job but it is not the focus. Not built for it means the core tooling is absent. The hero image above shows this table visually; the text version is here in full.

Which platform is built for cinematic & brand film?
Use Higgsfield. It is the deepest in the set on camera / motion and character consistency, the tasks that decide this job. Choose InVideo instead if you need storyboard, keyframe control and edit / assemble. 4 platforms clear the bar here (CapCut, Higgsfield, InVideo, OpenArt), so this is a real choice rather than a default. What separates a real toolkit from a checkbox: Storyboard, camera control and character/scene consistency, not just a model to call.

Use Synthesia. It is the deepest in the set on custom twin, voice / clone, translate / dub and export / lms, the tasks that decide this job. Choose HeyGen instead if you need stock avatars. 2 platforms clear the bar here (Synthesia, HeyGen), so this is a real choice rather than a default. What separates a real toolkit from a checkbox: A reusable custom twin, voice cloning, translation/dub and LMS export, not a one-off stock presenter.

What does the same output actually cost?
Credits are deliberately hard to compare, so we hold the model and the parameters constant and ask what one identical output costs on each platform. The markup column is the platform price divided by calling the same model directly.

How we tested this
Every platform was swept inside the logged-in product under the creative-depth-v3 rubric, locked 2026-07-30. One cell is one platform, one job, one core task. Duplicate features serving the same task are counted once.
- NEWEST SURFACE, check the vendor's newest product surface and sibling brands before scoring any cell (Fotor+ClipFly, CapCut+Dreamina+Pippit, Magnific+Freepik). A 0 must be an actively-checked absence.
- PAGE IS NOT A TOOL, a marketing/SEO page describing a capability is not the capability. Generic text-to-image behind a job headline scores 0 for that job.
- FINDABILITY IS IN THE RUBRIC, <=3 clicks and <=60s from logged-in home. Found only after digging caps the cell at Solid(2). Not found in budget scores 0 even if claimed, and 'claimed, not findable' is itself a publishable finding.
- SCOPE, a capability that cannot produce the use case's deliverable does not count for it (HeyGen's brand kit is for video, so it cannot finish a static ad: product brand = 0, not 2).
Depth scale
- Deep, best-in-class depth or variation on the task
- Solid, a real, purpose-built tool for the task
- Basic, a point capability, or generic generation pointed at the task
- None, no tooling for this task
Read the full framework on our methodology page.
Where we are less certain
Some cells confirm a tool exists and works, but the call between Solid and Deep was made without generating an output, because generation is credit-gated. Those are marked below so you can weigh them yourself.

Common questions
Which Creative AI Platform is best overall?
There is no overall winner, and that is the finding. for cinematic & brand film use Higgsfield; for ai avatars & talking-head use Synthesia; for ai ads & ugc use CapCut; for social video & short-form use CapCut; for product & ad visuals use Canva. Pick by the job you actually need, not by a composite score.
How many platforms and capabilities were tested?
10 platforms across 5 jobs, scored on 310 individual task checks. Every cell was verified inside the logged-in product, not read off a marketing page.
What does "Built for it" mean?
Built for it means the platform ships deep, purpose-built tooling for that job and clears the finish line for it. Capable means it does the job but it is not the focus. Not built for it means the core tooling is absent.
Does a platform score count sibling apps?
Yes. Sibling brands are scored as one platform because buyers subscribe to the family: CapCut includes Dreamina and Pippit, Fotor includes Clipfly, and Magnific is the former Freepik. Duplicate features serving one task are counted once.
